The Connecticut Writing Project sites at the University of Connecticut, Fairfield University, and Central Connecticut State University will be using a State Network Minigrant from the National Writing Project to host their first ever Professional Writing Retreat. The event will be held at Wisdom House in Litchfield, Connecticut from June 24-27, 2009.

6:30-7:30 Writing Activity. Discuss the projects you would like to explore at this retreat. Discuss your experiences with professional writing and writing for publication.
7:30-8:00 Participants Share and Discuss their Projects
Thursday, June 25
8:00-9:00 Breakfast
9:00-9:30 Announce and Discuss Writing Groups
9:30-12:00 Writing Time. Groups can decide for themselves whether to work independently or as a group, or to split the time.
12:00-1:00 Lunch
1:00-2:00 Our guest editor Professor Patrick Sullivan of Manchester Community College will give a presentation on publishing from an editor’s point of view and on teachers who publish. Afterwards, he will make himself available for brief one-on-one conferences with each participant.
2:00-5:00 Group and/or Individual Writing Time.
5:00-5:30 One-on-one check-ins with Jason and/or Steve
5:30-6:30 Dinner
6:30-8:00 Free Writing Time
